3. What do I need to retrieve my property after it has been stored?

For Found and/or Held for Safekeeping Property you will need a Driver’s License or some kind of identification to confirm identity if you are the rightful owner; Contacting our direct number first to make an appointment is highly recommended in the event you commute here and we are not here at that time; If you are a family/friend of the rightful owner and are trying to pick up property for them, we must have a notarized letter from them authorizing you to pick up their property.

For any property we seized as Evidence that pertains to an investigation, authorization/communication must be obtained from the assigned investigator before we can release your property back to you OR if somebody has been charged/arrested and the case is going through District or Circuit Court you must contact your attorney to file for a motion to return seized property that must be directed through the Prosecutors Office before we can release that type of property.

4. How long do I have to retrieve my property?

We only hold Found and Held for Safekeeping Property for 60 days; If it’s a bicycle – 90 days; It is your responsibility to make arrangements for your property to be picked up; If you are unable to pick up your property due to being out of state or incarcerated, if you communicate with us other arrangements we will handle those situations case by case.

We do have to confirm they can be in possession of a firearm prior to releasing any firearm.

6. My property was stored as evidence, how do I retrieve it?

Contact your Attorney to communicate what property you are seeking, they will need to create a Motion to Return Seized Property and direct that through the Prosecutor’s Office, once the order has been approved and signed by a Judge bring the Order with you to the Police Department for pick up.

7. How long after my property is stored may I retrieve it?

60 Days for all Found & Held for Safekeeping Property/90 Days for all Found & Held for Safekeeping Bicycles

8. My property was lost/stolen, how can I check to see if it was stored in the property room?

Contact 479-986-3607 to speak with somebody in the Evidence Unit and we will look into it.

9. What if someone other than myself was listed as the property owner on the report?

We are only authorized to release property to the owner in which the initial intake officer has provided; if there happens to be miscommunication about who the rightful owner is, we would handle those case by case with the submitting officer.

10. Can someone else retrieve my property for me?

Yes, we must have a notarized letter from you authorizing them to pick up your property.
