Rogers Executive Airport Set to Close for 10 Days

ROGERS -- The Rogers Executive Airport is set to close for 10 days for runway, lighting and drainage improvements.

The work is scheduled for June 23 through July 3, although inclement weather could alter this schedule.

The project was funded through a nearly 6 million dollar federal grant last year and includes overlay work, drainage improvements, and lighting upgrades.

“We have been working in concert with our partners at FAA for several years to bring this project to fruition,” said airport manager David Krutsch.  “This runway pavement and lighting rehabilitation project will enhance safety and provide a structurally sound, durable runway designed to support our current and expected aircraft fleet mix.  The project includes a full-depth runway keel reconstruction, mill and overlay of the existing asphalt pavement, installation of pavement underdrains, crack repair, pavement grooving and rehabilitation of the runway lighting.”

Rogers Airport Manager David Krutsch says the dates for the closure were selected to have little impact on travelers and a traditionally stable weather pattern.

Customers of the airport have the option to house their aircraft elsewhere during the closure.
