Residents to Build Protected Bike Lane in Downtown Rogers

The month-long demonstration will connect the RAC Center with the Lake Atalanta Trail System

Rogers, Ark. – The City of Rogers invites residents and businesses to come out on Wednesday, November 2 and Thursday, November 3 to help build a protected bike lane in downtown Rogers. The lanes will be temporary installations that will last one month. The project will be placed on 3rd Street and Poplar Street. This direct, low stress route for bicyclists will connect the existing trail network, downtown businesses, and the Rogers Activity Center. Residents are invited to help install the project.

The demonstration project will be built starting at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2. Weather could affect the build schedule.  Volunteers should go to the entrance of Rogers City Hall, 301 W Chestnut St, Rogers, AR 72756.

Funded by the Walton Family Foundation, and in partnership with the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and the Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks, the Rogers Protected Bike Lane will be the longest stretch of on-street protected lanes in NW Arkansas.

The project will be implemented with the technical assistance of the Street Plans Collaborative, an award-winning urban planning, design and advocacy firm with experience helping cities implement needed transportation projects with a fraction of the budget and shorter timelines than conventional projects.

Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the BikeNWA demonstration project. For more information contact Ben Cline at bcline@rogersar.gov
