[ARCHIVED] Free Public Lecture on Parking and Street Design in Downtown Rogers

The City of Rogers and the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce are inviting the public to hear from Jeff Speck, city planner and urban designer, and his ideas for the future of parking and design ‘On the Bricks’.  The event will take place on October 17th at the Arkansas Public Theatre at 6:00 p.m.

Speck and mobility planning firm Nelson\Nygaard have been hired to create a parking and street design plan for Downtown Rogers. The lecture will provide the public with information on how streets impact downtown revitalization and what that means for our growing community. The event will include a book signing by Mr. Speck, refreshments, and cash bar. The lecture will begin at 6:00 PM on October 17th at the Arkansas Public Theatre . 

“As we work to re-imagine Frisco Park, it’s imperative we take a look at the parking and street design in downtown as a whole. Jeff Speck is considered the leader of his field in urban design, and having his expertise will be invaluable as we plan for the future of Downtown,” said John McCurdy, Director of Community Development.  

Jeff Speck is a city planner and urban designer who advocates internationally for more walkable cities. He formerly served as Director of Design at the National Endowment of the Arts and now leads Speck & Associates, a boutique planning firm based in Boston. He has authored best-selling books Suburban Nation and Walkable City and his new book, Walkable City Rules: 101 Steps to Making Better Places, is due out October 2018.
