[ARCHIVED] City Officials Select Architecture Firm for Redesign of Frisco Park

Downtown

ROGERS, AR—City officials have selected an architecture firm for the  redesign of Frisco Park in Downtown Rogers. After interviewing  candidates from across the country, Ross Barney Architects of Chicago,  IL, was selected as the design firm for the project. Community  Development Director John McCurdy said Ross Barney’s unique methods set  them apart from the field of other candidates.

“Ross  Barney Architects is internationally renowned for using innovative urban design and extensive community engagement to transform public spaces.  The firm’s experience and collaborative spirit will result in Frisco  Park becoming a connected, accessible, and inclusive space that  leverages existing assets while catalyzing future investment,” McCurdy  said.

“We cannot wait to reimagine this  park for the people of Rogers,” Parks and Recreation Director Jim White  said. “This design will help Frisco Park lay the ground work for  continued revitalization and anchor the downtown for years to come,”  White added.

The redesign of Frisco Park was made  possible by a grant from the Walton Family Foundation’s Northwest  Arkansas Design Excellence Program. The program seeks to elevate the  quality of design in Northwest Arkansas by providing financial support  to public and nonprofit entities to develop public buildings and spaces  that preserve a sense of place and promote the region. Rogers was  awarded the grant in late 2017.

Community engagement will take place in the coming months as Ross Barney Architects and city staff begin the redesign process.
