Rogers Appoints William “BJ” Hyde as Next Fire Chief

Mayor Greg Hines has appointed Chief William "BJ" Hyde as the permanent Fire Chief of the Rogers Fire Department. Chief Hyde joined the Rogers Fire Department in July 2013 in the role of Deputy Fire Chief. From 2013 to 2018, he worked in the Emergency Medical Services, Special Operations, and Training Programs Division. Since 2018, Chief Hyde has served as the Administrator of the Community Risk Reduction Programs, as well as the City’s Chief Building Official, and Chief Fire Marshal. Before joining the Rogers Fire Department, Chief Hyde worked with the Bentonville Fire Department beginning in 1998. He spent 10 years in field operations and five years in the Training Division, most recently as the Division Chief of Training, Safety, and Public Information Programs. Over the past few months, Chief Hyde has been filling the Interim Fire Chief role during the nationwide search to fill the Fire Chief position.

Chief Hyde earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Ethics from John Brown University. He is also a graduate of the Fire Service Executive Development Institute – International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Executive Fire Officer Program – United States National Fire Academy. His international roles include a Commissioner on the Commission on Professional Credentialing (IAFC) and a Delegate for the International Code Council Fire Service Membership Council.
