[ARCHIVED] Rogers Accepting Applications for Upcoming Mayor’s Youth Academy

The City of Rogers is excited to accept applications for the upcoming Mayor's Youth Academy. This program is designed for young individuals to gain practical knowledge in local government while actively contributing to the community of Rogers.

The Mayor's Youth Academy meets monthly through the school year, and covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Legislature: The Mayor’s Youth Academy will explore how laws are made at the local level, with opportunities to attend city council meetings and meet council members.
  • Budgeting: Participants will learn about the financial side of local government, an essential component of effective community leadership.
  • Project Planning: Youth will gain valuable insights into project development, from conception to execution.
  • Public Safety: Understanding the role of public safety in our community is vital. This program will provide a look at how public safety services are organized and delivered in Rogers.
  • Community Development: Participants will explore the principles of community development like land use and zoning that serve to enhance the quality of life in Rogers.
  • Utilities: The Mayor's Youth Academy will dive into the world of utilities, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how essential services like water and waste collection are provided to our community.
  • Parks & Recreation: The program will cover park management and recreational programming, highlighting the importance of green spaces in our city's well-being.
