The City of Rogers received a grant from the Beaver Watershed Alliance to make upgrades at Lake Atalanta by replacing gravel parking areas with permeable pavers. This upgrade will improve water quality at Lake Atalanta, be more attractive and reduce the maintenance load for city employees.
Speaking to this project, Becky Roark of the Beaver Watershed Alliance sees the importance of making proactive changes to protect water quality. “Cleaner storm water can also help keep the price of water down”, she says.
The project is now heading into the construction phase, beginning June 30th and wrapping up around the end of July as weather permits. As the map shows, the South parking lot will be completed first before moving on to the North parking lot about mid-July. One parking lot will be open at all times.
