The City of Rogers, in partnership with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, will host a “Boots and Badges” Blood Drive on Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rogers City Hall in the Council Chambers. The Boots and Badges Blood Drive is a community initiative designed to help alleviate a critical blood shortage, while at the same time honoring area first responders for the great work they do in the Rogers community. Area leaders as well as area merchants have partnered with CBCO to voice a unified message intended to save lives. The Rogers Fire Department and Rogers Police Department encourage you to help sustain our local blood supply by participating in this community drive.

The need for blood is ongoing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since early March, CBCO has seen over 8,000 potential donations lost, with more looming on the horizon. Community drives like Boots and Badges are helping to fill the void of those lost donations. “Blood drives are an important and integral part of community support,” Rogers Fire Chief Thomas Jenkins said. “I encourage people to take part in this important event due to the continuous need for blood – especially during the current pandemic.”

Given the current increase in COVID-19 cases, it is imperative that we continue to enforce social distancing guidelines and urge everyone to wear a mask. In an effort to limit large groups of individuals present at the same time, the public is encouraged to schedule an appointment prior to participating in the blood drive and only come to City Hall during your appointment time. In addition, masks will be required to participate in the blood drive and will be provided if needed. “There is a critical need for blood in our area hospitals right now,” Keith S. Foster, Public Information Officer with the Rogers Police Department said. “The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is the sole provider of blood to ALL Rogers area healthcare facilities. The blood you donate goes to help your neighbor, your friend, or even a family member. I’m asking everyone in Rogers to pitch in and donate blood at the Boots and Badges Community Challenge Blood Drive.”

Donors at the drive will receive a colorful Boots and Badges “Hero” T-shirt, a free box combo card from Raising Cane’s and a $5.00 gift card redeemable in CBCO’s LifePoints online store.
