The Rogers Street Department is beginning to implement its yearly fogging for mosquitos and insects. Fogging will continue throughout the summer and early fall.
Each day, the fogger will be in different areas of #Rogers beginning at 3 a.m. to 30 minutes before sunrise. This time was chosen to be least disturbing to traffic and our friendly bee population as they will be in their hives and not affected by the fog.
The following is the weekly rotation schedule for each week:
Monday - 2nd Street to City Limit East
Tuesday - Dixieland to 2nd Street
Wednesday - 1-49 to Dixieland
Thursday - Rainbow Road to Dixieland
Friday - All Sports Fields and Lake Areas
Please use caution if/when approaching the fogger. The operator will disengage the fogger until traffic has passed.
Our Street Department uses the most environmentally-friendly chemical available (Permethrin) for the required task of eliminating mosquitos and insects. Permethrin is an insecticide in the pyrethroid family. Pyrethroids are synthetic chemicals that act like natural extracts from the chrysanthemum flower. Permethrin is used in a number of ways to control insects.
