The Rogers Fire Department and Centerton Fire Department will celebrate the life of Captain and Paramedic Mike Cerasale with a public procession on Thursday, May 7. The procession will leave Rogers Fire Station 2 at 1 p.m. and end at Centerton Fire Station 1.
As COVID-19 is still a threat to our community, it is very important that those that wish to participate in the procession do so strategically. In an effort to uphold the current social distancing directives in place, officials from the Rogers and Centerton Fire Departments are asking those that are planning to pay respects to Captain Cerasale and his family to accumulate along the procession route in areas that maintain at least a 6-foot distance from other parties. Please do not gather in groups of more than 10 persons, and you are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Participants are encouraged to park in parking lots along the route and get out of their vehicles to show their respects.
After leaving Rogers Fire Station 2 (located at 1800 W New Hope Rd.) at 1 p.m., the route will proceed west on New Hope and turn north on Dixieland Road. The procession will continue north on Dixieland to Hudson Road (Highway 102/14th Street in Bentonville), then continue west on Hudson Road/Highway 102 to Centerton Fire Station 1 (located at 755 W. Centerton Blvd.). Please see the attached map for more details.
“Unless you have worked within a fire department or have a family member that is a firefighter, it’s hard to comprehend how close we all grow to know one another,” Rogers Fire Chief Tom Jenkins said. “We are a family, and Mike played a huge role in our family. While he will be greatly missed, we will always be thankful for the memories we made and lessons we learned from Mike. Both the Rogers and Centerton Fire Departments will be wearing black bands on our badges for the next month as we honor the life and legacy of Captain Cerasale.”
Captain Cerasale served the citizens of Rogers for nearly 23 years. He was assigned to Engine 2 on the “A” platoon at the Rogers Fire Department. Cerasale also served as Training Chief for the Centerton Fire Department during his off time.
