[ARCHIVED] District Court of Benton County (Rogers Division) announces Rescheduling Order leading up to May 4

The District Court of Benton County (Rogers Division) announced a Rescheduling Order (view here), signed by Honorable Judge Chris Griffin, beginning on March 16 and lasting until May 4 due to the current health crisis regarding the COVID-19 virus. The Criminal and Civil Clerk “windows” will remain open in the Courthouse during the time of the Rescheduling Order to allow the Court to accept payments, create continuances, allow public service to be turned in and to deal with day-to-day administration duties.

The following changes in court dates will take effect immediately:

  • All “Open Court” sessions between the date of the order, March 16, 2020, and May 4, 2020, are cancelled. The District Court Clerk and Deputy Clerks are authorized to reset “payment due” dates and other due dates for “non-monetary orders” for persons that appear in person in the lobby of the Court. Those continuances/”resets” shall be consistent with forthcoming verbal directions from the District Court Judge. 
  • Arraignment dates of March 17, 24 and 31 of 2020 will be rescheduled for May 28, 2020.
  • Arraignment dates of April 7, 21 and 28 of 2020 will be rescheduled for May 29, 2020.
  • “County Trials” set for March 19, 2020 and April 23, 2020 will be rescheduled for May 21, 2020.
  • “Night Court” arraignments set for March 18, 2020 will be rescheduled for May 20, 2020.
  • “County Plea Discovery” cases set for April 2, 2020 will be rescheduled for May 7, 2020.
  • “County Plea Discovery” cases set for April 3, 2020 will be rescheduled for May 8, 2020.
  • “Interpreter Plea Discovery/Trial” cases set for April 8, 2020 will be rescheduled for May 13, 2020.
  • “Conflict” cases set for March 18, 2020 will be rescheduled for May 20, 2020.
  • “City Plea Discovery” cases set for April 9, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. are rescheduled for May 14, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. (Last Name A-L) and June 11, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. (Last Name M-Z)
  • “City Plea Discovery” cases set for April 9, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. are rescheduled for May 14, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.
  • “City Plea Discovery” cases set for April 10, 2020 are rescheduled for May 15, 2020.
  • “City Trials” cases set for April 1, 2020 are rescheduled to June 3, 2020.
  • “Civil” cases set for March 18, 2020 are rescheduled for May 20, 2020.
  • “Small Claims” cases set for March 25, 2020 are rescheduled for May 27, 2020.
  • “Small Claims” cases set for April 22, 2020 are rescheduled for June 24, 2020.

All of the "Speedy Trial" time lost due to the above continuances shall be excluded from the time the State/City have to prosecute the affect cases per A.R.C.P. 28.3(h). 

The Rogers District Court Clerk will notify attorneys via fax or email. Involved parties without attorneys will be notified of the new court dates via U.S. mail at their last known address.
