Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is comprised of a captain, 3 sergeants, 14 investigators, and 2 clerical staff members.

Duties

  • The Crimes Against Property Unit is responsible for investigating of all crimes against property to include felony thefts, burglaries, forgeries, etc. The unit is supervised by one sergeant.
  • The Crimes Against Persons Unit is responsible for the investigation of all crimes against persons such as rapes, sexual assaults, batteries, etc. Two members of this unit hold specialized positions, a Crime Scene Technician and a Forensic Computer Examiner. The Crime Scene Technician assists officers in the processing of major crime scenes for evidence. The Forensic Computer Examiner uses a variety of electronic tools to examine all manner of electronic devices for evidence of a crime. The unit is supervised by one sergeant.
  • The Drug Unit is comprised of a team of investigators responsible for the investigation of illicit drug use and trafficking. The unit works cooperatively with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
